Grouse Mountain Zipline

Are you looking to go ziplining in Vancouver? While it’s always been on my bucket list and it was time to check another one off.., and this time we were doing it on a Friday night, date night!

I think adventure dates are a great way to push yourself outside your comfort zone and get to know the person you’re with in a whole new capacity. Sure, after 17 years together you’d think we know each other pretty well, but there’s always a new opportunity to try something new and go on a new adventure.

Top 5 Things We Loved About Our Grouse Mountain Zipline date!

1. We were on a date!

As anyone married with children can tell you, organizing a day out can be a once-in-a-blue-moon affair. The simple act of knowing that you and your partner have made a day just for the two of you is reason enough to be happy, and when combined with an adrenaline rush like ziplining, it can turn a good day into a fantastic one – and our adventure at Grouse Mountain was certainly one of those!

2. We were having FUN!

Dates should be about fun, whether you’re married or just getting to know somebody. I’ll always prefer getting out and doing something to a standard coffee date, as you’ll get to know a person faster and better when you’re both being active together. On Grouse Mountain, the thrilling (and occasionally nerve-wracking) ziplines bring people closer together, and how could they not? You’re sharing the excitement, the laughter and the jitters. It’s the perfect date!

3. The scenery was spectacular

Vancouverites are more aware of this than anybody, but we live in one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and nowhere is this more apparent than at the top of Grouse Mountain. With stunning views of the surrounding mountains, untouched forest and the city itself, it’s by far one of the best spots in the city to take in the scenery. Zooming over it on ziplines is one thing, but to really take a moment to stop and enjoy it… well, this photo says it all:

4. The adrenaline rush

It’s no secret that the rush of the ziplines is the greatest attraction here, and Grouse Mountain’s tracks do not disappoint. With speeds reaching up to 80 kilometers per hour at heights of up to 70 meters above ground, it’s hard not to have your breath taken away by the sheer volume of fun. Combine the pure exhilaration of the lines with the mind-blowing scenery and you have a recipe for one of the most exciting attractions in the Lower Mainland.

5. Does a bear ____ in the woods?

Well, thanks to our adventure, we now know the answer. As we rode the chairlift to the ziplines at the top of the mountain, we passed above the bear enclosure within feet of the two resident bears, Grinder and Coola. While we were busy admiring the beautiful beings in their natural environment, they decided that they would rather be busy doing… other things. An unexpected laugh on our date… priceless!

Overall it was an awesome day at one of my favourite places in the world. After the two hour journey we headed to Altitudes Bistro where we had the best seats in the restaurant and an amazing view to watch the sunset. Five stars all the way!
